Quote of the week “I’m not running for president because I think I’m blessed with such personal greatness that history has anointed me to save our country in its hour of need. My country saved me... and I cannot forget it. And I will fight for her for as long as I draw breath, so help me God. I’m going to fight for my cause every day as your president. I’m going to fight to make sure every American has every reason to thank God, as I thank Him: that I’m an American, a proud citizen of the greatest country on earth, and with hard work, strong faith and a little courage, great things are always within our reach. Fight with me. Fight for what’s right for our country. Fight for the ideals and character of a free people. Fight for our children’s future. Fight for justice and opportunity for all. Stand up to defend our country from its enemies. Stand up for each other, for beautiful, blessed, bountiful America. Stand up and fight. We’re Americans, and we never give up. We never quit. We never hide from history. We make history. Thank you, and God bless you, and God bless America.” —John McCain, concluding his nomination acceptance speech
"To sin means to miss the point..." I'm afraid it is Mr. Tolle that is missing the point.
I'm a sinner. I have always been a sinner. I sin because I'm a sinner. I am not a sinner because I sin. It is the same for all humans... even Eckhart, as he tries to speak for Jesus.
Your post brought a smile to my face... since I thoroughly understand that backwoods guy and big city stuff. The best part of a safe trip, no matter how far or how long in the going, is the arriving back home.
Bill, your opinion is the correct one as far as I'm concerned. Good post.
Bob Barr may get far more votes than he deserves. About thirteen million more.
V.I.Lenin would be so proud of how far the democrat party has "progressed" in just a few short decades.
Just think... our first marxist-communist president to go with our socialist congress.
If he thought there were cannibals registered to vote, he would be promising to deliver missionaries to their doorstep.
In answer to your question about his promises being socialism, yes most, if not all, of his policies would probably qualify. More importantly, everything he has been spewing for the last two years would qualify as fodder for fools' votes, also.
McCain is basically a liberal. Yet, Obama's stance is far to McCain's left in the political spectrum. It remains to be seen if the average voter is so dumbed-down and ignorant of the actual threat someone like Obama poses to the security of themselves and their nation. We'll know come November, won't we?
One good thing about gay marriages - they won't be contributing to the gene pool.
My condolences in these days of sorrow. There are no words, only time and Faith.
