Mini Road Trip

Carthage Missouri is a little town where time has almost
stood still. It has a wealth of Victorian Houses that are a delight to the eye, especially at night when they are lit
up. Ted and I have always loved visiting there because
they have a lot of antique shops with interesting things
in them. The handmade quilts are really special.

It had been five years since we had been there, so we set
out Tuesday morning after dropping Rex off at Lake Road
Boarders in Shawnee, for an overnight stay. It only takes
three and a half hours to get there and is turnpike all
the way.

The antique shops were a disappointment and very uncomfortable because of no air conditioning. I
walk through and make instant decisions but Ted has to
look at everything. I found a book about domestic life
between l650 and l750 which was fascinating and amazingly
well researched and a crazy quilt throw. This one is
silks instead of velvet and I bit the bullet and washed it
when I got home. It came out fine. I also got a cute
cat picture for the guest bath.

Rex pouted all day but he is back to normal today. He
wouldn't sleep with us when we got home and gave us
the cold shoulder all day yesterday. I know he didn't suffer
because he stayed in an air conditioned doggy suite and
had children to play with.

Rex thought -- well they deserted me so i'll give them the cold shoulder-- love the second hand shops ; always look for 78 rpm records , the real antique ones

We used to go at least once a year but haven't been there in five years. It
was fun.

Rex suspects that you're visiting another dog...

He probably doesn't know that we saw him licking the owners grand daughter in the face and wagging his tail vigorously. Unfaithful goes
both ways!!

Wish Ed could make some time for us to go antiquing -- that is so much fun.

I know just how Rex feels.

It is a lot of fun to hunt for treasure. We were assured that we could bring Rex with us but I enjoyed the freedom of traveling without him.

Rex wanted to buy an antique water bowl, that's why he's miffed.

Of course he did! I can be so thoughtless.
