On My Soapbox Again

When we relate to strangers and people on the street in a
kind and friendly way, there is no malice and no attention
to their color or there differences. I can't understand
why our so called leaders must be always hostile and
confrontational like our present President and his minions.

I have made a delightful new friend I think she is Syrian
and she operates our neighborhood cleaning establishment.
We laugh together, share confidences and enjoy visiting.
She doesn't hate me for being white and I enjoy looking at
her beautiful brown eyes and creamy tan skin. We both
enjoy sharing ideas and culture. It doesn't matter if we
worship differently, eat differently or have varying customs.

Hate makes us all poor and wretched beings. I can't like
anything about our present political situations but I am
trying to just be confident that the hate mongers will reap
the whirlwind while doing all I can to put obstacles in
their path.

Some amazing things still happen, like the human wall that ordinary people made in Texas so no one would bother the group of Muslims who came to the capitol for their yearly visit. And that mosque burning in Texas too, where the Jewish synagogue handed the Muslims the keys to their building saying they needed it more right now.

Yes, the human spirit is remarkable. These good things encourage us. I
don't watch the news any more except for the weather.

It certainly feels like terrible and intolerant times are upon us. What an awful situation. I hope we all make it out alive.

I really don't understand why a spineless Republican party doesn't do
something about Trump. There are grounds for impeachment.

Latest news is that Washington State has successfully stopped the ban for now. jjoohhnn is wrong about able-bodied males. Many Muslims with valid visas were refused re-entry -- they are students studying here so as to be able to go back and use their smarts to help their countries.

I am glad the ban has been lifted in Washington State. Heaven help us all in this administration from Hell.

I'm by no means 100% on board with the immigration/refugee business. I certainly think we should refuse able-bodied males (especially) if for no other reason that if they won't fight to save their own country/society how could the US ever count on them for anything. So, I'll let it play out and see what happens and hope it doesn't get as bad here as it is in France and Germany.

I guess what I am against is a rush to judgement. Most of those women are victims of an archaic system and have no way to make a living except in low menial jobs. The men have to support their families. But as always there are two sides to every question.
