Almost Time for a Garden Video!

Fortunately the winter that wasn't provided plenty of time for outdoor activities. I had the last of the log pile cut (but not split) and next winter's supply is ready. I had the garden prepared and even tho we're not supposed to plant until after Memorial Day, the trend has been for warm weather so I have the seeds and plants in the ground.

It's been extremely hot for even July and you can almost watch the plants grow. The difference is noticeable between 7am and 3 pm. Another day or two and there will be plenty to video.

I looked back at the video from May 31 last year and that garden was also off to a good start. Unfortunately it wasn't far into June when ground rodents ate the pepper plants and something ate the pole beans.

So this year, no peppers, and the pole beans are hopefully protected by two fences and leaf mulch.

I had been doing well physically since my last cortisone injection in the knee in February. I told the doc when I saw him in June that it must have been the best place injection of his career. When he was in training he worked for ortho and did dozens of injections per day.

So at least I got the logs cut (almost) when one rolled off and caught my ankle. I walked it off and didn't think much of it but after a month it had gotten more swollen and painful so I went for x-rays. No damage to the bone so I just have to wait and add ice and heat to it if I want. I've been wearing slippers for the past several days since the top of any shoe would hit the sore spot. I'm caught up on all the outside stuff and I really don't want to get behind.

Experience at the dentist didn't go well either. A simple extraction: wasn't. I hope I have the nerve to go back for the third time to have it finished. I hope he knows what he's doing.

Have a great Memorial Day, march (or something) if you can.

Cortisone injections worked for you? I have had them in both thumbs, and they only last barely a month, so I have stopped altogether and am trying different remedies. Good luck with your garden.

A pound a week is a good goal!! Keep it up--or should I say down?

Congratulations on your weight loss, John. I have been backsliding
and gained back 3 pounds.

I am looking forward to the videos. We have had way too much rain for
the tomatoes but I do have ripe cherry tomatoes, the yellow ones.
Take care of that ankle and the tooth.

The yellow (like the orange) are probably less acidic. I have 6 of the orange planted for Donna. I prefer the full-size variety. Conditions are perfect so far and I still have time to add seeds to mounds that aren't germinating. So far, so good!

" I walked it off and didn't think much of it but after a month it had gotten more swollen and painful"--why do we always wait????
How's the weight doing?

I don't always ignore things but it this case it wouldn't have mattered. I've been wearing slippers all weekend that don't rub on the bone. Hopefully I'll be in better shape by tomorrow. The weight thing is working Ok. Weight is routine at the doc's office no matter what the presenting complaint and I was down 9 pounds since April 22. Actually better than a pound per week which is my goal.
