  Snow Kiddin'

Most of the year, we can gaze thoughtfully out from this porch and see the sunset through the junipers. Not now. The snow builds up on the roof then commences to slide downward, falling off in big clumps that go THUMP! The piles of snow off the roof get larger, and larger, and larger. In this particular spot, the pile got so high, it finally met up with more snow sliding off the roof, totally blocking the view west.
The handle seen in the photo is one of our two snow shovels. They are getting plenty of use this winter.
The dart board, on the other hand, might as well be packed away. If I missed it with a poorly thrown dart, I wouldn't find it until Spring.

What do all those cats think of this?

Wow...I'd be a little concerned about my roof and the load factor...

I enjoy the winter, but only if there is snow on the ground...The white stuff is so beautiful that it takes my mind off the fact that I'm freezing my @ss off!
(Fritz the puppy LOVES the stuff too!)

Too bad that we are having winter here too. Travel safely.

And I thought our little seven inches of snow was significant!! At least it slides off or your roof would probably collapse.

And that's why I live in South Florida!

Snow is beautiful. Tone deaf here about the travails of snow.

It is surrounding the house like a lurking monster...

I guess your roof is steep, to encourage the snow to fall off (and not collapse the roof). Do you use snow shoes? Skis?
comment by mindanaomike on Jan 31, 2010 3:13 PM ()
I don't ski. Last winter I finally bought snow shoes but found them clumsy and worthless. Perhaps I don't know how to use them right... But I have great winter hiking boots and so I don't mind tromping through the snow with just them on... it's great aerobic exercise (I keep telling myself).
