Speaking of Eccentric People ...

I had an odd encounter was a prospective customer today. After carefully examining the three neckwarmers on my table she holds one up over her head and tells me she received one of these as a gift and she likes to wear it as a hat. She said she looks good in close fitting hats so neckwarmers look good on her head. I wanted to tell her about the lampshade I once owned that I always thought would make a stunning hat but most people just don't get my sense of humour so I just smiled and told her I was sure she would look divine with a neckwarmer on her head. When she told me I should make some neckwarmer hats I told her it was an interesting idea and I'd think about it. She is one of the reasons I enjoy being in the craft market. I get to meet all kinds.

This picture started me laughing because it made something related pop into mind: The Carol Burnett skit where she plays Scarlett O'Hara wearing the dress made from the velvet curtains - complete with curtain rod. None of my lampshades make good hats but maybe I can wear some drapes.

Some eccentric people on the knitting forum didn't get it. They couldn't see what was so odd about wearing neckwarmers on their heads until I posted the picture. I have no idea what they were envisioning beforehand.

Then she didn't buy one, did she? Hiss, boo.

Out of all the suggestions I have received from prospective customers not one was practical or saleable enough to try.

that's funny about the lampshade.

It's true but no one believes me. They just think I'm the eccentric one.

I am eccentric enough to see a neckwarmer as a hat. I love those wide
headbands that are knitted and keep your ears warm. I think white ones are
so pretty. However, it is too cold in Canada to enjoy them.

But the eccentric lady didn't say she wore it as a headband. The photo shows what she described to me. I think it is neither attractive nor practical. I've knit myself several headbands that I wear when a cold wind blows.

Being a manager of a butcher shop years ago some of my customers were definitely different, chatting to customers was a tool of the trade and boy
oh boy some of subjects would make a Jew drop his money bag

Folks who deal with the public know it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.
