Mother's Day and More

Happy Mothers Day to all the women out there. It's been 12 years since mine died. But, she lives on in spirit and descendants.
Two of my daughters have girls, and the other one is expecting a girl (Sept). That'll make 5 grandchildren.

Spring is refusing to take hold around here. A late season frost is predicted this weekend. Bad timing, as my strawberries are blooming. Small loss for me compared to my kids and their massive U-pick patch. We're crossing our fingers it doesn't happen.
Speaking of their vegetable farm, I've been helping on a daily basis planting potatoes and onions. I either drive the tractor or drop the "seeds" into the holes. Tedious work.

My own yard and garden needs some TLC. Of my original 12 blueberry plants I planted 2 years ago, only one survived. Being the stubborn guy I am, I have bought 3 more--bigger and more mature (and more expensive). I'm determined!

Between the bad weather (cold and rainy) and working or baby sitting, I've played several rounds of golf. I've also been mushroom searching a few times. Not much luck. Love those morels.
Just finished Dicken's "Tale of Two Cities". What a great novelist. It's never too late to read the classics.

And finally, for those that are curious, I've just about given up on women. Those hyped-up dating services are a waste of time and money. Guess I'll live out my final years in solitude. Serves me well!
See ya.

I am as resigned as you are to a solitary life. Would help if I lived closer to family.

Well maybe for you dating is overrated. As long as you are content!
I lost my one strawberry plant early on, not sure why, probably just the return of the black thumb disease. ha Still hoping I get some tomatoes!!!

We finally moved to the windward side of O'ahu and are now living on a lovely little farm. Got 6 chicks, marigolds, cilantro, papaya, banana, Dragonfruit, rosemary, tomatoes, and all kinds of other stuff.

Nothing wrong with solitude. You'll be so busy that you'll never feel lonely. Besides, you always have us here a greasy.

First year without my Mom, and her birthday is on the 14th, too. But we will celebrate it for Sessie the Siamese who bore the four kitties last June. She gets a tuna cake.

Sharing your wishes for all the Moms out there, alive and in spirit, as I remember my dear Mom, who died 29 years ago on the day before Valentine's Day. Blessings to all!

Spring has finally arrived here in Northwest Ohio, though it sure took long enough to get going this year. Hoping no frosts come, and wishing you and your kids and family the best.

Mine died at 11:45 on the Saturday (today) before Mother's Day in 1994. 18 Years--time flies. We are supposed to get light frost on Sunday and Monday overnight, but not cold enough to do damage--except for those who felt lucky and planted tomatoes and other warm-weather crops. Good luck!
