We are looking forward to the Big Game aka the Super Bowl this weekend. We are going to stay two nights at the Excalibur Casino Hotel on The Strip. The venue for watching the game is their horse arena where they have a dinner show with jousting most nights. I will be interested to see whether they set up tables on the dirt floor or somehow cover it, and what the quality of the food will be.




All the casinos refer to the menu as 'stadium food' meaning burgers, hot dogs, nachos, small bags of assorted chips, candy bars, open bar, and some kind of desserts. Mr. Troutbend is hoping there will be ice cream novelties, of which he can eat a large quantity and variety in the course of a football game when he's not paying for them.

This is the annual event where I take a knitting bag and we load up on chips and candy bars to last us all year for our road trips. They have to throw it all out anyway once it's been put out, so we might as well take some home.

We are a little anxious about how it will be, since we've not been to the Big Game at the Excalibur before, and we are afraid the other customers will not be quiet during the commercials so we can hear them. If it's too rowdy, we'll go back to our hotel room to watch the game. Of course some of the ads will be shown for a few months going forward, but not always in the longer versions of the originals. And a few ads are never seen again.

Maybe by some miracle the Saints will win, but if they don't, I hope it's not a lopsided game in favor of the Colts. The sports books here in Las Vegas have already changed the spread from 3 points to 6 points because so many people are betting on the Colts. This means the Colts will have to win by 6 points or more for people betting on the Colts to get their money. The ones who placed their bets early when the spread was 3 points will get that point spread.

My cousin in England is a Saints fan, so is going to a pub to watch it live, the game starting at midnight for them.

In bad news, no Vegas for me.

I hope you have a great time. Our neighbors usually give a Super Bowl party but I have heard nothing so far and either they are not giving it this year or we are not invited. I think life can go on if we don't go. I just look around for someone else who is there for their spouse and is also not watching the game and we chat.
