  Knitted Things

My cousin in England mailed me a package in December that my post office in Colorado returned as undeliverable. Next spring, I swear I am going to go slap that shit-ass post master upside the head. So she re-sent it to me here in Las Vegas, and it was Topsy-Turvy dolls that she had made. There are three dolls, and when you turn them over, there are three more dolls with different color schemes.

Side A (Topsy):

Side B (Turvy):

Here are the hats:

Also on the subject of knitted things, as you may or may not know, Donny and Marie Osmond currently have a show at the Flamingo Hotel here in Las Vegas, and a couple of their costumes from past performances are on display. This is the Technicolor Dream Coat that Donny wore when he played Joseph in that musical some time back:

I think it was an excellent idea to knit it because although something similar could be made via patchwork quilting, it would have been very heavy to get all those color changes.

The dolls are adorable. What a mess with your postmaster. Try to reach someone in authority, maybe a central office.

Those dolls are really clever. I have seen these before but not in a long while. Donnie's "coat of many colors" is quite interesting.

Looking at their costumes, neither one of the Osmonds is very tall or large, which surprised me. I've seen those topsy-turvy dolls done for fairy tales - Red Riding Hood on one side and the Big Bad Wolf on the other.

They're so cute! Your cousin did a wonderful job.

She really likes making dolls and other stuffed things. I visited her in England a couple of years ago and looked forward to seeing her stash; I'd pictured a room of yarn, or at least a closet, but it was contained in a garbage bag in the corner of the bedroom. I sent her some yarn once, and she told me in no uncertain terms 'don't send me any wool' so I don't know where she gets it from. Oh oh, I just realized I didn't show all of the variations.
